Another travel street art post today chaps and my very first guest post from the inspiring and very wonderful Mary over at Evolve with Mary. San Francisco is one of my favourite places I ever travelled to in the States and as it may some time before I get back there it was fab to have a bit of it brought to me instead :)
Hello from across the pond. My name is Mary, I run the craft and lifestyle blog Evolve with Mary. I was ecstatic when Ruby agreed to swap posts and I'm super excited to share some California Street Art with all of you.Walking through the dingy blocks of the Mission District in San Francisco, it’s hard not to notice all of the marvelously unique art. Numerous blocks have been overtaken by street art, strolling down these strips of pavement you are instantly transported into an outdoor art studio. Where some of the most talented artists in San Francisco showcase their skills, but the shelf life is limited. Their exquisite works of art will be painted over within 30 days of creation. A new Painting will pop up that will somehow some way make you forget what previously graced the walls. As an artist, I’m not sure I would be ok with that, but that’s the life of a street artist, everything is temporary. San Francisco is an artist-friendly city. While gathering some fresh shots for this post, I noticed most of the art is politically based. The people are not too happy with the new President, especially in California, expressing their frustrations and sharing their point of view through art is a beautiful luxury.
